Hainan Airlines launched its inaugural service between Shenzhen and Zurich

The first non-stop service to connect China’s Guangzhou-Shenzhen area with Switzerland, it also represents Hainan Airline’s seventh intercontinental service originating at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport. Read more here.

Asian cargo monthly: Mixed bag for airlines in July

Asian air cargo carriers reported mixed performance in July, with the majority of airlines seeing volumes track lower than earlier in the year.

The region’s largest air cargo carrier group, Cathay Pacific, saw traffic increase by 2.1% year on year in July to just over 1m revenue freight tonne kms, which lags behind its growth over the first seven months of the year of 6.4%. Read more here.

Trade ‘jitters’ impact container port throughput

INCREASING trade tensions have contributed to a downturn in container port throughput in June, according to analysts at Drewry.

Drewry’s Container Port Throughput Indices, which track volume movement based on monthly throughput data for a sample of more than 220 ports worldwide, showed a decline in June compared with a record the previous month. Read more here.

US and Mexico reach a preliminary trade deal that could replace NAFTA
