The EU has prolonged its flying ban on around 280 airlines that serve destinations in the EU, due to concerns about security. In addition, the EU has tightened up official requirements for Iran Air operations in the EU.

The EU Commission said that the airline is no longer allowed to deploy Airbus A320s, Boeing B727s and Boeing B747s in the EU. Blue Wing Airlines from Surinam is a new addition to the EU blacklist, whilst Indonesia AirAsia and Metro Batavia from Indonesia have both been crossed off. AfriJet from Gabon, which is permitted to carry out flights in the EU under certain conditions, was allowed to add another aircraft to the fleet it deploys to the EU.
